There are guitars that politely ask for your attention.

This one walks into the room wearing a paisley tuxedo, kicks the door shut behind it, and says, “Yeah… we all know why you’re here.”

Seriously… who at Fender woke up one morning and decided, “Let’s put an aged black paisley finish on a featherweight Thinline with TWO pickups”?

Whoever it was deserves a raise.

And then somebody decided that wasn’t crazy enough and stuffed it full of Ron Ellis electronics and hand-wired Ron Ellis pickups.

That’s a bit like buying a Ferrari… then taking it to Ferrari and saying, “Can you make it a little nicer?”

Mission accomplished.

Condition

Born on April 20, 2020, this Limited Edition Custom Shop is in Excellent condition.

Yes, it’s relic’d from the factory… so trying to describe the wear feels a little like pointing out scratches on a pair of pre-ripped jeans.

That said, everything you’re seeing was done intentionally by the Fender Custom Shop, with the exception of one honest player mark on the back that simply blends right into the guitar’s personality.

The frets show very little wear, the neck feels absolutely fantastic, and thanks to that roasted pine body it weighs an absurd 5.7 pounds.

You almost expect there to be another guitar hiding in the case.

There isn’t.

It’s just ridiculously light.

Ron Ellis pickups have developed an almost mythical reputation because they don’t simply sound vintage…

…they sound like the vintage guitar everyone wishes they owned.

Clean? Gorgeous.

Edge of breakup? Magical.

Wide open? It’ll make you wonder why you own other Telecasters.

Then there’s the weight.

At 5.7 pounds, you can play an entire four-hour gig and still have enough energy left afterward to help your drummer carry his hardware.

Actually… let’s not get carried away.

You’re still not helping the drummer.

This is one of those Custom Shop pieces that people stop and stare at before they’ve even plugged it in.

Then they plug it in…

…and suddenly the paisley isn’t the most interesting thing about it anymore.
