Every now and then, a guitar strolls into the shop with the confidence of someone who knows they peaked in high school… except this one never stopped peaking. Thirty-five years later it’s still making modern guitars wonder why they even bothered showing up.
This is a 1991 Gibson Les Paul 40th Anniversary, and it’s the kind of guitar that makes you instinctively play one chord… then another… then suddenly you’ve forgotten why you walked into the room in the first place. It has all the attitude of a vintage Les Paul, all the bite and growl of a pair of glorious P-100 soapbars, and enough gold hardware to make Fort Knox feel a little insecure.
The ebony gloss finish is absolutely stunning, the bound ebony fretboard is classy enough for a tuxedo, and that special 40th Anniversary 12th-fret inlay quietly reminds everyone that this isn’t just another Les Paul… it’s a birthday party Gibson threw for itself.
Even more impressive? This thing is unbelievably clean. For a guitar that’s been around since George H. W. Bush was in the White House, it has aged better than most of us. Other than a handful of honest surface scratches (shown in the photos), it’s remarkably well preserved.

Condition & Included Items
This Les Paul is in excellent condition, especially considering it’s celebrating its 35th lap around the sun. The finish remains incredibly glossy, the frets are in great shape, and the gold hardware still presents beautifully. There are only light surface scratches from careful ownership, with no major dings, breaks, repairs, or structural issues.
Included is the original brown Gibson “California Girl” hard case with its gorgeous red plush interior. There is no case candy with this one—but let’s be honest… after 35 years, most of the case candy has either disappeared, dissolved, or was probably traded for guitar strings sometime during the Clinton administration.
